Ignite
Ignite is a leadership and service extended orientation experience for over 500 incoming UTK students each summer. Service-learning is a strong value within the program, so community partners play a significant role in making Ignite a success. MLK Jr. Days of Service
MLK Jr. Day of Service is observed every year in January to encourage students to serve their communities and honor the legacy of Dr. King. Historically, this event has been held in one day, but given the positive feedback to our 2021 COVID accommodations, we have decided to permanently split our service up over the course of ten days to better serve students and the community alike. Volunteer requests go live in November and are finalized in the beginning of January.
VOLServe
The Jones Center for Leadership and Service sponsors monthly service opportunities for students called VOLServe. During each VOLServe, Jones Center Ambassadors will bring a group of volunteers to your organization to serve during a designated time. At the beginning of each semester, JCLS staff will coordinate these days of service with community partners across the city. Volunteer Fairs
Each semester we invite community partners to campus to talk with students, faculty, and staff about their organization and volunteer needs. During the fair, organizations are provided a table, chairs, and parking pass. The next opportunity to connect with campus at a volunteer fair will be in the Fall 2024 semester.
