Partnership Opportunities

Ignite is a leadership and service extended orientation experience for over 500 incoming UTK students each summer. Service-learning is a strong value within the program, so community partners play a significant role in making Ignite a success. The 2024 sessions of Ignite will be held throughout June, and we will contact our community partners to host volunteers later in the spring semester. If you’re interested in hosting volunteers over the summer, please email

MLK Jr. Days of Service

MLK Jr. Day of Service is observed every year in January to encourage students to serve their communities and honor the legacy of Dr. King. Historically, this event has been held in one day, but given the positive feedback to our 2021 COVID accommodations, we have decided to permanently split our service up over the course of ten days to better serve students and the community alike. Volunteer requests go live in November and are finalized in the beginning of January.

The Jones Center for Leadership and Service sponsors monthly service opportunities for students called VOLServe. During each VOLServe, Jones Center Ambassadors will bring a group of volunteers to your organization to serve during a designated time. At the beginning of each semester, JCLS staff will coordinate these days of service with community partners across the city. If you’re interested in hosting volunteers, please email

Volunteer Fairs

Each semester we invite community partners to campus to talk with students, faculty, and staff about their organization and volunteer needs. During the fair, organizations are provided a table, chairs, and parking pass. The next opportunity to connect with campus at a volunteer fair will be announced in the Spring.
