Our Way of Saying Thank You
Students with 100 or more network-verified hours through our ServeUTK platform, prior to graduation, will receive a Service Medallion to wear during commencement to commemorate their selfless service to our community. Medallions are only awarded during the term in which a student is graduating.
Service Levels:
- Gold Medallion: 225 Hours or More
- Silver Medallion: 175–224 Hours
- Bronze Medallion: 100–174 Hours
Service Medallion Eligibility:
To be eligible to receive a service medallion, all impact hours must be:
- Verified by the nonprofit you served alongside and
- Network-verified by JCLS staff
Hours must be verified by the following dates.
- December 2026 Graduates: November 16, 2026
- May 2027 Graduates: April 12, 2027
Important: JCLS recommends that students enter their hours as soon as service is complete, so the verifier has plenty of time to approve hours before these deadlines. At the latest, impacts should be submitted and verified 1-2 weeks prior to the deadline to allow time for JCLS to network verify.
Please be sure your impacts are shared with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, or the hours will not be visible to the staff, and your request will be delayed.
To review whether your hours have been shared with JCLS, please follow these steps:
Review your Impact Sharing Settings
- Log in to ServeUTK with your SSO.
- Go to Activity, then select Impacts.
- Click Export Impacts and look at the column titled “Shared With”.
- If you do not see The University of Tennessee, Knoxville listed for an impact, follow the steps below.
Share an Impact
- Log in to ServeUTK with your SSO.
- Go to Activity, then select Impacts.
- Scroll to the Impact you would like to edit and click Edit on the right.
- Click the blue Next button to navigate to “Share Groups”.
- Type “The University of Tennessee” into the search bar and select (it should auto-populate).
- When you click Next and then Update Impact on the final page, your impact will be saved.
Service Medallion Notification & Pickup:
All students graduating or walking in May 2027 graduation ceremonies who have over 100 network-verified hours will receive an email from the Jones Center by April 21, 2027, with instructions about picking up their medallion. Students graduating in December will receive notification on or around December 1, 2027.
Important: Medallions will not be available for early pickup.
