Great communities don’t just happen; they happen because of investment from individuals and organizations. We are lucky to have so many great nonprofit and community agencies investing in Knoxville, and we hope that we can help support the work that you do.

Partnership Opportunities
The Jones Center hosts various leadership development and community engagement programs throughout the year.
- Ignite: The extended orientation experience enables incoming students to immerse themselves in unique leadership development and community engagement opportunities in Knoxville. Hundreds of students learn about life on Rocky Top through service, and community partners are vital to the program’s success.
- MLK Jr. Days of Service: Observed annually over ten days in January and February, students serve local organizations to honor Dr. King’s legacy. The range of service opportunities enables the event to serve the community and accommodate students. Volunteer requests open in November and are finalized at the beginning of January.
- VOLServe: During this monthly service opportunity, Jones Center Ambassadors (JCAs) bring a group of volunteers to your organization to serve. JCLS staff coordinates the dates and times with Knoxville community partners at the beginning of each semester. If you are interested in hosting volunteers, please email leadserve@utk.edu.
- Volunteer Fairs: Each semester, we invite community partners to campus to connect with students, faculty, and staff about their organization’s mission and service opportunities. Our office provides tables, chairs, and parking passes for the fair.
Note: If you are a University Department or Student Organization, please view our Service & Program Request page to learn more about how the JCLS can support you!
Additional Resources for Community Organizations at UTK
The Center for Career Development and Academic Exploration oversees Handshake, a job and internship posting database. If you’d like to advertise vacancies at your organization, please visit the Handshake website.
The Office of Community Engagement and Outreach provides resources and support to deeply integrate community engagement with its land-grant mission of teaching, research, and public engagement. It facilitates hundreds of connections between faculty, staff, students, and community partners. We highly recommend contacting its staff to explore partnerships that might not fall within the scope of the Jones Center.
