International Immersions

This short-term international experience allows students to learn about active citizenship through a global perspective. This experience provides an in-depth understanding of the history, events, and current political climate in the country we visit in order to gain a better understanding of the root causes of social issues.

International Immersions Trip Information

Dates: Mid-May 2025
Cost: approx. $1,000
Cost Includes flights, all accommodations, several group meals, excursions listed in the program description, insurance, service activity coordination, and public transportation pass.

Pre-Trip Processes/Requirements:

• Applications will open early Spring 2025
• All applicants are required to sign up for an interview with the selection committee
• If accepted, participants are expected to attend three pre-trip meetings to go over expectations, educational presentations about the country and experiences, and other topics to be best prepared for this immersion.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Students must be in good standing with the University and have at least a 2.0 GPA

What makes the International Immersion Trip unique?

• Short-term, impactful experiences
  • Not every student has the time or financial means to study abroad for a semester or year. Our trips allow students to gain global experience on a short-term, impactful trip.
• Experiential learning at a lower cost
  • Our trips are not credit-bearing, which allows students the opportunity to have a global experience without being concerned about adding more credit hours to their course load. It also greatly lowers the price of our trips, making them more accessible to students. While our trips don’t offer credit, we still prepare our students through a series of pre-trip meetings, have learning goals for each trip, and focus on providing students with a rich learning experience.
• Exploring Ethical Service Abroad
  • We believe that building sustainable, long-term relationships with local nonprofits and communities is the most ethical approach to service work domestically or abroad. We work with a third-party company that vets non-profits which ensures that our projects are community-driven and that our partners have the capacity to work with a group of volunteers. During pre-trip meetings and on the trip, we make sure students are aware of the criticisms of international service and discuss how our goal is to work alongside our partners and learn from them.
