About the Conference

This half-day conference is designed to engage students with any level of leadership experience. Whether you’re a first-year student wanting to learn more about your personal leadership style, a seasoned student leader hoping to enhance your current development, or a senior about to embark on your professional journey, the Clifton M. Jones Student Leadership Conference is a good fit for you!

Program Offerings

We will have a variety of excellent programs planned for our breakout sessions. Highlights from previous years include “The Hunger Games: Lessons in Leadership and Social Change,” “Lost in Translation: Understanding and Communicating with Different Personality Types,” and “The Toughest Job You’ll Ever Love: Peace Corps.” Presenters include graduate students, faculty, and staff from all areas of the university as well as professionals from the greater Knoxville community!

2019 program tracks will include :

Advocacy and Socially-Responsible Leadership: This track focuses on diversity, social justice, and equity education that empowers our student leaders to move beyond civility. Participants in this track will leave these sessions with a clearer understanding of the necessity for inclusive leadership practices and a respect for differing identities and perspectives. This track is in partnership with the Pride Center and Office of Multicultural Student Life.

Growing in Leadership: This track is an opportunity for emerging leaders to further develop their leadership knowledge. This track will explore the art and science of leadership and leadership skills.

Seasoned Leadership: This track is geared toward students who have held one or more leadership positions on campus and are interested in learning more about how they can impact the Volunteer community and make meaning of their various experiences.

Sorority and Fraternity Life Leadership: This specialty track is for sorority and fraternity members to enhance their individual leadership skills to effectively lead their organizations and councils. This track is in partnership with the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life.

Leadership in Campus Engagement: This specialty track features sessions designed to help leaders and members of student organizations increase their leadership skills to effectively lead their organizations. This track is in partnership with the Center for Student Engagement.

12:45pm Closing and Check-Out

1:00pm Conference Ends

 

*There is no charge to register for the Clifton M. Jones Student Leadership Conference.  However, registering for the event and not attending the entirety of the event will result in a $20 non-negotiable program fee. Cancellations CANNOT be accepted after a registration form has been completed.
