About the Conference

Whether you’re a first-year student wanting to learn more about your personal leadership style, a seasoned student leader hoping to enhance your current development, or a senior about to embark on your professional journey, the Clifton M. Jones Student Leadership Conference is a good fit for you!

Program Content

There will be a variety of excellent programs offered during the breakout sessions. The sessions will be focused on one of three content areas: personal leadership development, socially responsible leadership, and global citizenship. Highlight sessions from previous years include “The Hunger Games: Lessons in Leadership and Social Change,” “Lost in Translation: Understanding and Communicating with Different Personality Types,” and “Dare to Lead: Leading and Learning Through Lived Experiences.” Presenters include graduate students, faculty, and staff from all areas of the university as well as professionals from the greater Knoxville community!

Our featured guest speaker will be Samantha “Sam” Ramirez-Herrera, who will be presenting on Living Outloud. Living Outloud is a keynote focused on inspiring students to live boldly and unapologetically.  In this keynote Sam will focus on inspiring students to speak up about what matters to them and to embrace their truths without apologies.  This keynote will focus on inspiring students to discover their power, live boldly and loudly.

Samantha “Sam” Ramirez-Herrera is an entrepreneur, filmmaker, creative director, writer, mother, feminist, and civil rights activist. She is also a proud, Mexico born DREAMer.
